Brier Anderson is the Instructional Design Specialist for STLI.

Instructional Design Specialist Brier Anderson recently hosted a Quick Bites Workshop on Flip, a website that she says is useful for creating “classroom community and an inclusive classroom.” Flip is a video discussion platform, meaning users can pose and answer questions in a short video format on the site.

Using Flip is now easier than ever. Since being acquired and supported by Microsoft, Flip (formerly FlipGrid) is now accessible to all William & Mary faculty and students. STLI member Brier Anderson highlights some of the key features in Flip in her Quick Bites tutorial here! Brier covers the basics on how to create a Flip account, navigating the site, and some useful settings for smoothly moderating asynchronous class discussions.

Flip is a fantastic tool for class accessibility, allowing students to respond to professor prompts in video or audio format, as well as leave written or video responses to posts from their classmates. Whether filming quick, personal introductions as a beginning-of-the-semester icebreaker or delving into rigorous academic discourse, Flip’s platform allows for a more accessible, more connected classroom.
