Finding a Pedagogy of Hope
Professor Kevin Gannon
Abstract: This session will invite attendees to consider strategies to cultivate and sustain motivation–both for ourselves and our students. We’ll examine the barriers to teaching and learning we’ve encountered after “pandemic pedagogy” and critically reflect on how and why they exist–as well as how we might surmount them. In a guided discussion and reflection, we’ll examine the foundations of a pedagogy rooted in hope and discern what that looks like for our own contexts. Finally, we’ll have the opportunity to frame commitments that also honor our need for sustainability and solidarity.
