Why Students Cheat: Assessment Design and GenAI

Many educators are concerned about generative AI and its influence on maintaining the integrity of student assessment. In this session, participants explored research on why students cheat and examined ways to increase learners’ desire and ability to learn. The workshop highlighted practical strategies for assessment design that reduced the incentive and opportunity for academic dishonesty.
