The Art & Science of Teaching
| September 30, 2025

The Art & Science of Teaching was an immersive evening of teaching ideas, inspiration, and community. The event was an exploration and celebration of teaching through the interdisciplinary lens of the liberal arts.
Colleagues connected at the opening reception before visiting select Muscarelle galleries to hear insights and perspectives from William & Mary instructors. Participants left with fresh inspiration, new connections, and a renewed sense of both the art and the science behind great teaching.
Instructors from multiple disciplines and at various points in their careers talked about watershed moments in teaching and how those moments impacted the way they teach. The evening started with heavy hors d’oeuvres in the lobby, and then moved through three different galleries for individual presentations, a panel discussion, and finally a round-table conversation.
