The Teach from Scratch program is a collaboration between STLI and the Arts & Sciences Graduate Center. This professional learning offering, tailored for W&M graduate students, equips participants with the knowledge and skills to teach effectively in college classrooms.

Teach from Scratch is designed to equip future faculty with the knowledge and skills to design and teach a course effectively in their respective fields. Participants explore fundamental concepts and practices in college teaching while developing competencies to succeed in university-level teaching across modalities.

After completing Teach from Scratch, participants will be able to:

Create/revise a syllabus that is inclusive and engaging.

Establish an assessment plan to evaluate student learning outcomes.

Incorporate learner-centered and inclusive teaching practices to enhance student learning experiences.

Teach from Scratch provides an invaluable opportunity for the cohort to
connect, exchange, collaborate, and support one another in their teaching efforts, thereby establishing a positive peer-to-peer community and network within W&M.
