VR Collaborative
The VR Collaborative is a STLI initiative with Jess Paga (Cassical Studies), Mark McLaughlin (Religious Studies), Bella Ginzbursky-Blum (Russian Studies), and Sasha Prokhorov (Russian Studies) to explore learning with virtual reality applications. Our space, the VR Lab in Boswell Hall, is co-sponsored by Information Technology and STLI.
Funded by a Provost’s Innovation grant, the VR Collaborative enhances student learning in the classroom and beyond the classroom through immersive experiences in virtual reality.

Learn
The VR Collaborative extends learning beyond the classroom by connecting students with environments they do not usually have access to. Examples include:
- Navigating foreign cities like St. Petersburg, Russia in the target language
- Historical tours of classical sites such as the Acropolis
- Exploration of ecologically sensitive areas best visited in VR
Grow
The VR Collaborative expands pedagogical horizons and enables intructors to teach through immersive environments. Additionally, instructors will become familiar with various virtual reality headsets, software, and web applications to enhance their approach.
Connect
The VR Collaborative participants will connect with colleagues from a variety of disciplines to explore VR applications and teaching ideas. Instructors meet regulalry to investigate emerging methods for integrating VR in the classroom.
