The Studio for Teaching & Learning Innovation (STLI) will be hosting “Inspiring Teaching & Learning (Even in a Pandemic!)” as part of the eighth annual One Tribe One Day (OTOD) virtual events line-up on Apr. 13 at 9 a.m. During the hour-long session, STLI Director Mark Hofer will be joined by instructors, including a STLI Faculty Teaching Innovation Fellow, undergraduate student partners, and STLI team members to share inspirational stories around innovation in teaching and learning and how the pandemic has impacted the classroom now and beyond.

“At the start of the pandemic, we realized very early on that our STLI team would have to move quickly to assist the university’s transition to remote teaching and learning. As you can imagine this was no easy feat, but with the help of our student partners, faculty fellows, and university partners we were able to accomplish the transition to both remote and blended learning environments,” said Hofer. “During this event, you will be able to interact with and hear from students, instructors, and our STLI team members on how innovation played a huge role in our success. We’re excited to share these inspirational stories with alumni and parents”

Funds raised during the 2021 OTOD event will help STLI support a more robust Student Partner Program (SPP) and Faculty Fellowship Program. Currently, the SPP provides various positions for students to work as employees with the studio and gain skills, certifications, and experience that will impact their marketability after graduation. Faculty fellows serve as pedagogical leaders and collaborators to support and mentor instructors across the university as they share their experience, insight, and passion for teaching and learning.

OTOD is the university’s annual day of giving in which William & Mary supporters are encouraged to give to the school, program, or area of their choice. In addition, funds that often have the greatest impact on the William & Mary mission and values are highlighted each year. More than gifts, developing a culture of engagement and participation is key to the event’s success.
