W&M Libraries

Physically located in Swem Library, the Studio for Teaching & Learning Innovation regularly collaborates with a range of partners in the library through programming, events, and initiatives. From our Advisory Council to Teaching Innovation Fellows to Educational Media Production Assistants, W&M Libraries is an integral partner for STLI’s mission and vision.

Working Together

We collaborate on events including workshops, learning labs, and the annual Teaching and Learning Symposium

We coordinate on ways to support faculty to enhance the student experience at W&M

We work together to find new opportunities in the current teaching and learning landscape

We enhance the educational media production student partner experience by providing hands-on learning opportunities with the Reeder Media Center

Reeder Media Center

STLI and the Reeder Media Center work together to provide faculty and students with support, training, and feedback on the development of learning objects. We share a state-of-the-art lightboard studio and work together to mentor students interested in educational media design and production.

Working Together Lunches

University Libraries, Information Technology, and STLI host monthly “working together” lunches to provide updates on projects, explore new opportunities for collaboration, and solve challenges related to technology, teaching, and research.

Small Teaching for New Faculty

On December 8, 2020, Katalin Wargo and Candice Benjes-Small hosted a workshop for new W&M faculty to share problems of practice experienced this fall, offer actionable solutions, and discuss strategies to carry forward into the spring.

Keep Teaching Initiative

As the university transitioned to remote learning, STLI, W&M Libraries, and IT developed the Keep Teaching Initiative which encompassed robust levels of supports and resources. The Keep Teaching website housed guides, tutorials, and best practices. Members from each team facilitated webinars and tutorials to help with technology and pedagogical issues.
