Sunni Brown

Sunni (Sun) Brown is the Doodler-in-Residence at MURAL and the Founder of Sunni Brown Ink. She’s a best-selling author, keynote speaker, expert facilitator, and an American Zen-chaplain-in-training. Sun was named one of the “100 Most Creative People in Business” and one of the “10 Most Creative People on Twitter” by Fast Company. Her TED Talk has drawn over 1.6 million views and her work on visual thinking has been featured in every major U.S. publication including The New York Times, The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, WIRED, and Entrepreneur, as well as being featured twice on CBS Sunday Morning and on The TODAY Show. Her two globally-beloved books — Gamestorming: A Playbook for Innovators, Rulebreakers and Changemakers, and The Doodle Revolution: Unlock the Power to Think Differently — have been translated into 25+ languages. She is widely credited with the rise of visual thinking as a tool for deeper inquiry. Sun is currently hard at work on Gamestorming 2.0 for digital facilitation environments and is designing a system for Collaborative Intelligence with MURAL as it relates to the future of work.

Dr. Peter Doolittle

Peter Doolittle is currently a professor of educational psychology at Virginia Tech. He is also the former Director of the Center for Instructional Development and Educational Research, Director of the School of Education, and Assistant Provost for Teaching and Learning. His academic background includes 30 years teaching undergraduate and graduate students – using traditional, blended, and online formats and addressing educational psychology, statistics, and research methods. In 2013, he delivered a TED Talk about how working memory makes sense of the world at TED Global in Edinburgh, Scotland. His current research focus is on the impact of working memory capacity on student learning in digital environments.

April 27 | Pop-Up Doodlefest & Playnote 

Arts at W&M presents a Pop-Up Doodlefest & Playnote with  Sunni (Sun) Brown on Wednesday, April 27 from 4 – 7:30 pm in the Read & Relax at Swem Library. You’re invited to come together, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and doodle from 4 – 6 pm. The Playnote: Collaborative Doodling and the Future of Work will begin at 6 pm.  This event is hosted by W&M Libraries and co-sponsored by the Arts & Sciences Annual Fund and Studio for Teaching & Learning Innovation.

April 28 | Teaching & Learning Symposium

All William & Mary faculty, co-educators, and staff are invited to attend the Teaching & Learning Symposium on Thursday, April 28 from 8 am – 4:30 pm on the ground floor at Swem Library. The symposium program includes a special keynote by Dr. Peter Doolittle, professor of educational psychology at Virginia Tech, a workshop led by Sunni (Sun) Brown, spotlight sessions, roundtable discussions, and lightning rounds facilitated by William & Mary faculty and co-educators. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
